Ghost World (2001)

The main problem with the film Ghost World is the pacing of it. It started off far to slow, and then later sped up to just slow. This is a real pity because the subject matter and performances were both good, and had the film had a bit more zing about it, I'm sure a lot more people would enjoy it.

The character development and performances troughout were fairly good, with the two leads standing out in particular. Thora Birch was well cast for her character, and played it convincingly - maybe a little too convincingly at times as I found the teenage attitude a little immature and annoying. Steve Buscemi put in another fine performance, this time playing an older character, but one he slotted right in to.

If you go see Ghost World, try and appreciate for what it's got, and try not to let the slow pace put you off - perhaps more a film for hard-core Steve Buscemi fans, and those who want to see what some teenagers really go through ...
